Mongolia Inflation Rate Hits 3-Year High

The annual inflation rate in Mongolia accelerated to 11.2% year-on-year in May 2026 from 10.1% in the previous month, reaching its highest level since May 2023.
Prices rose faster for food and non-alcoholic beverages (23.4% vs 19.7% in April), while inflation continued to increase for clothing and footwear (6.8% vs 6.4%), health (7.1% vs 6.9%), communication (1.6% vs 1.5%), restaurants and hotels (11% vs 10.4%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (11.4% vs 10.2%).
Meanwhile, inflation eased slightly for furnishings, household equipment and tools (7.8% vs 7.9%), transport (5.8% vs 5.9%), recreation and culture (6.3% vs 6.6%), and miscellaneous goods and services (9.8% vs 9.9%), while remaining unchanged for education (12.8%) and insurance and financial services (17%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 1.2% in May, slowing from a 2.8% rise in the previous month.
