Kyrgyzstan Industrial Production at 32.50 percent


Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan rebounded 32.5 percent year-on-year in September 2018, following a 10.2 percent decline in the previous month. It was the strongest growth in industrial activity since July last year, as output rebounded for electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply (0.5 percent from -1 percent) and manufacturing (50.2 percent from -12.2 percent), mainly led by higher production of vehicles (48.4 percent from 1.5 percent); wood & paper products (5.4 percent from -8.1 percent); rubber & plastic products (7.9 percent from -3.1 percent) and basic metals & finished metal products, except machinery & equipment (88.4 percent from -19.6 percent). On the other hand, output slowed for water supply & waste treatment (24.3 percent from 33.5 percent) and fell further for mining (-51.2 percent from -1.5 percent in August), driven by metal ores (-83.2 percent from -19.5 percent) and coal & lignite (14.3 percent from 105 percent).

Exports slumped 39.3 percent from a year earlier to USD 95.8 million and imports fell 15.1 percent to USD 356.2 million. Considering the January to August period, the trade gap widened to USD 2,201.8 million from USD 1,725.6 million in the same period of 2017, as went down 4.9 percent to USD 1,037.5 million and imports rose 15 percent to USD 3,239.3 million.
