Consumer prices in Kuwait increased 1.43 percent year-on-year in October of 2017, following a 0.5 percent gain in September. It was the highest inflation rate since May, as prices rose more for clothing and footwear (2.9 percent from 1.9 percent); miscellaneous goods and services (3.8 percent from 2.8 percent); furnishing and maintenance (3.8 percent from 3.7 percent), and recreation and culture (5.7 percent from 5.4 percent) while food and beverages went up 0.4 percent, after being flat in September. On the other hand, prices of communication rebounded (0.8 percent from -0.1 percent). Meantime, inflation was steady for transport (1.7 percent). In contrast, prices continued to fall for housing services (-0.3 percent from -1.8 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.3 percent, after increasing 0.5 percent in September.
