Kosovo Trade Deficit Widens in September

Kosovo’s trade deficit widened to EUR 520.5 million in September 2025 from EUR 429.4 million in the same month a year earlier, as imports grew faster than exports.
Imports surged 19.6% year-on-year to EUR 606.2 million, driven by mineral products (14.6% of total imports), machinery and electrical equipment (11.3%), base metals (11.3%), prepared foods, beverages and tobacco (11.2%), and transport equipment (10.0%).
The largest import partners were China (15.6%), Turkey (12.8%), and Germany (12.7%).
Exports rose 10.7% to EUR 85.8 million.
Base metals accounted for the largest share (19.1%), followed by plastics and rubber products (12.5%), mineral products (12.4%), prepared foods (11.5%), miscellaneous manufactured goods (9.5%), and plant products (7.7%).
Main export destinations included Albania (21.4%), Germany (11.5%), Switzerland (11.0%), and North Macedonia (11.0%).
