Kosovo Trade Gap Unchanged in November

Kosovo recorded a trade deficit of EUR 469.9 million in November 2025, largely unchanged from the corresponding month of the previous year. Exports declined by 9.5% year-on-year to EUR 87.7 million, with base metals (20.3%) accounting for the biggest share, followed by mineral products (15.4%), plastics, rubber and articles (11.2%), foods, beverages and tobacco (11.1%), and various manufactured articles (10.2%). The main export destinations were Germany (10.7%), Italy (2.9%), and the Netherlands (2.7%). Meanwhile, imports fell by 1.6% to EUR 557.6 million, with machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment (13.3%) making up the largest share, followed by foods, beverages and tobacco (13.1%), mineral products (13%), transport (12.4%), and basic metals (9.1%). The largest import partners were Germany (14.6%), Italy (5.3%), and Poland (3.8%).

Kosovo posted a trade deficit of EUR 530 million in October 2025, widening from EUR 493 million in the corresponding month of the previous year, as imports rose more than exports. Year-on-year, imports increased by 7.2% to EUR 621.8 million, driven by transport (13.4%), machinery mechanical and electrical equipment (12.5%), prepared foods, beverages and tobacco (11.7%), mineral products (11.2%), and basic metals (9.9%). The largest import partners were Germany (15.7%), Italy (5.8%), and Poland (3.4%). Meanwhile, exports grew at a softer 5.1% to EUR 91.8 million, with basic metals (21%) accounting for the biggest share, followed by plastics and rubber (12.5%), various manufactured articles (10.8%), prepared foods, beverages and tobacco (10.5%), and mineral products (8.9%). Main export destinations included Germany (12.9%), the Netherlands (3.2%), and Italy (2.7%).

Kosovo’s trade deficit widened to EUR 520.5 million in September 2025 from EUR 429.4 million in the same month a year earlier, as imports grew faster than exports. Imports surged 19.6% year-on-year to EUR 606.2 million, driven by mineral products (14.6% of total imports), machinery and electrical equipment (11.3%), base metals (11.3%), prepared foods, beverages and tobacco (11.2%), and transport equipment (10.0%). The largest import partners were China (15.6%), Turkey (12.8%), and Germany (12.7%). Exports rose 10.7% to EUR 85.8 million. Base metals accounted for the largest share (19.1%), followed by plastics and rubber products (12.5%), mineral products (12.4%), prepared foods (11.5%), miscellaneous manufactured goods (9.5%), and plant products (7.7%). Main export destinations included Albania (21.4%), Germany (11.5%), Switzerland (11.0%), and North Macedonia (11.0%).
