Kenya's annual inflation rate accelerated for the third month to 4.6% in September 2025, a new high since June last year, from August's 4.5%.
Still, inflation remained below the 5% midpoint of the central bank’s target range for a 16th straight month.
The food and non-alcoholic drinks index, which represents a third of the inflation basket, climbed further to 8.4%, up from 8.3% in the prior month.
Additional upward pressure came from transportation (4% vs 4.4%) and housing & utilities (1.4% vs 0.8%).
On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 0.2% in September, after a 0.3% increase in the previous month.
