Hungary Inflation Slows to 5-Month Low

The annual inflation rate in Hungary slowed to 4.2% in April 2025 from 4.7% in the previous month.
This marked the lowest level since November 2024, as price growth moderated for food (5.4% vs 7% in March), services (7% vs 7.5%), and consumer durables (2% vs 2.1%).
In contrast, costs increased further for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6.3% vs 5.5%), while prices rebounded for electricity, gas and other fuels (3.5% vs -2.7%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.2% in April, after a flat reading in March.
Meanwhile, the annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, eased to a four-month low of 5% in April, from 5.7% in the prior month.
