Industrial production in Hungary shrank by 8.7% year-on-year in February 2025, confirming initial estimates and slipping further from a 3.9% fall in the previous month.
This marked the tenth consecutive month of declining industrial output and the sharpest drop since August 2024.
The downturn was driven by a continued decline in all manufacturing subsections, particularly in the production of electrical equipment (-24%), basic metals and fabricated metal products (-15.8%), transport equipment (-10.4%), food, beverages and tobacco (-5.8%), and rubber and plastics products and other non-metallic mineral products (-5.5%).
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output fell by 1.3% in February, following a 0.8% drop in January.
