Hungary Trade Surplus Shrinks in May

Hungary’s trade surplus narrowed to EUR 739 million in May 2025 from EUR 1,020 million in the corresponding month a year ago, well below market expectations of EUR 1,378 million surplus.
This marked the smallest trade surplus since December 2024, as exports rose less than imports.
Year-on-year, exports grew by 2.0% to EUR 12,198 million, while imports increased by 4.8% to EUR 11,458 million.
Considering the first five months of the year, the country’s trade surplus fell to EUR 6,060 million from EUR 6,646 million in the same period last year.
