2026-08-19 20:55 By Isabela Couto 1 min. read

Producer prices in El Salvador rose 3.5% year-on-year in July 2026, accelerating from a 3.2% increase in the previous month.

The pickup was largely driven by higher electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning costs (23% vs. 15.2% in June).

Prices for transport and warehousing also rose sharply (8.35% vs. 8.71%), albeit at a slower pace than in June, amid disruptions to oil and gas supplies in the Middle East due to the US-Iran conflict.

Prices rose at a faster pace for manufacturing (3.1% vs. 2.8%), lodging and food services (2% vs. 1.9%) and real estate (1.8% vs. 1.7%).

Meanwhile, producer prices continued to decline for water supply, sewerage and waste management (-0.15% vs. -0.15%) and swung to deflation in healthcare (-0.1% vs. 3.8%).
