Dominican Republic Inflation Eases Slightly

The annual inflation rate in the Dominican Republic eased slightly to 5.47% in July 2026 from 5.67% in June.

The strongest price pressures were recorded in restaurants and hotels (8.15%), transport (7.95%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (6.75%), education (6.52%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.1%).

In contrast, prices fell for clothing and footwear (-1.29%) and communications (-1.4%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.19%, slowing from a 0.51% increase in June.

Year-to-date inflation reached 2.21%, while core inflation stood at 4.96% year-on-year.

Dominican Republic Inflation Rate Rises to Three-Year High
The annual inflation rate in the Dominican Republic rose to 5.67% in June 2026 from 5.35% in the previous month, marking the highest reading since March 2023. The strongest price pressures were recorded in transport (8.37%), restaurants and hotels (8.03%), and food and non-alcoholic beverages (7.01%). Education prices also rose at a faster pace than the overall inflation rate, increasing 6.64%. Costs also increased for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.47%), healthcare (4.94%), housing (2.47%), furniture and household equipment (2.17%), and recreation and culture (2.20%). Meanwhile, prices continued to decline for clothing and footwear (-1.15%) and communications (-0.80%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.51% in June, following a 0.31% increase in May.

Dominican Republic Inflation Accelerates
The annual inflation rate in the Dominican Republic accelerated to 5.35% in May 2026 from 5.11% in the previous month. This marks the highest level since March 2023, as transport prices rose sharply by 7.5% from 5.3% in April, with additional upward pressures from recreation and culture (2.7% vs 2.4%). In contrast, other categories moderated. Food inflation eased to 6.6% from 7%, while price growth also slowed for health (5.0% vs 5.2%) and education (6.6% vs 7.2%). Meanwhile, inflation stood for housing and utilities (2.6%), restaurants and hotels (7.7%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.3%) and furnishings (1.9%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.31% in May, easing from 0.49% in April.
