Costa Rica GDP Growth Hits Lowest Level Since Q1 2021

Costa Rica’s economy expanded 3.4% year-on-year in Q2 2026, slowing from 4% growth in the previous quarter and marking the weakest expansion since Q1 2021.
Growth moderated across several sectors, with manufacturing output declining 0.8%, reversing a 2.6% increase in Q1, while agriculture and fishing growth slowed sharply to 0.5% from 2.3%.
Further slowdowns were recorded in transport and storage (3.9% vs 4.7%), mining and quarrying (3.1% vs 3.5%), accommodation and food services (3.5% vs 3.8%), telecommunications and information services (3.4% vs 4.7%), real estate (3.1% vs 3.2%), administrative and support services (4.2% vs 4.8%), and education services (2.7% vs 3.1%).
Meanwhile, growth strengthened in utilities (4% vs 3.5%) and construction (8.9% vs 7.7%).
