Costa Rica - Credit Rating at 50.00
Fitch Ratings cut on January 15th Costa Rica's sovereign credit rating by two notch to "B+" from "BB" and assigned a "negative outlook", removing it from "rating watch negative". The agency stated that its decision "reflects persistently wide fiscal deficits, high near-term financing needs due to a steep amortization schedule and budget financing constraints." It was also added that despite the new administration successfully passed a fiscal reform in late December to address fiscal imbalances, limited near-term yield from the reform and a rapidly climbing interest bill, will keep the fiscal deficit higher than peers and the debt burden on a relatively steep upward trajectory. Standard & Poor's credit rating for Costa Rica stands at B+ with negative outlook. Moody's credit rating for Costa Rica was last set at B1 with negative outlook.
