Belgium’s consumer confidence indicator fell to -14 in April 2025 from -10 in the previous month.
This marks the weakest reading since December 2022 following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine and the subsequent energy crisis, and close to the historic lows seen during the 2020 pandemic.
Sentiment worsened notably regarding the 12-month outlook for the country’s economic situation (-44 vs -35 in March) and the financial situation of households (-8 vs -3).
Meanwhile, concerns about unemployment increased slightly (21 vs 20), while the propensity to save remained unchanged at 17.
