Belarus Inflation Rate Edges Up

The annual inflation rate in Belarus edged up to 4.5% in August 2026 from 4.4% in the prior month. Services inflation rose to 5.7% from 5.4%, reflecting higher price growth for housing and utilities, which edged up to 10.4% from 10.3%, and transports, where growth accelerated to 6.1% from 5.3%. Additional upward pressure was due to higher inflation for furnishings (3.6% vs 2.8%), information and communication (2.5% vs 1.8%) and restaurants and accomodation (7.8% vs 6.8%). Meanwhile, inflation remained unchanged at 3.1% for overall food products, although cost growth for food and non-alcoholic beverages eased slightly to 2.2% from 2.3%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices declined 0.08%, following a 0.3% rise in July.

Belarus’s annual inflation rate edged up to 4.4% in July 2026 from 4.3% in June, driven by faster price growth across several categories. Inflation accelerated for transport (5.3% vs 4.7%), clothing and footwear (2.9% vs 1.9%), furnishings (2.8% vs 2.5%), health (2.8% vs 2.6%), information and communication (1.8% vs 1.3%), recreation, sports and culture (8.4% vs 7.7%) and restaurants and hotels (6.8% vs 6.4%). Meanwhile, inflation held at 10.3% for housing and utilities and 7% for alcoholic beverages and tobacco. In contrast, food inflation eased to 2.3% from 2.7%, while inflation for insurance and financial services slowed slightly to 3.7% from 3.8%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.3%, matching the previous month’s increase.

Belarus's annual inflation rate eased to 4.3% in June 2026 from 4.8% in May, marking the lowest reading since October 2023. Price growth slowed notably for food products (3.4% vs. 4.9%), while inflation for non-food goods edged up to 2.1% from 2.0%. Meanwhile, services inflation accelerated to 8.8% from 6.7% in the previous month. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.3%, following a 0.1% increase in May.
