Angola Q1 GDP Growth Strongest in Near 2 Years

Angola's economy expanded by 5.3% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, accelerating slightly from a downwardly revised 5.1% increase in the previous quarter.
It was the strongest growth since the second quarter of 2024, driven by non-oil activities.
The non-oil sector grew 6.2%, while the oil sector contracted by 0.2%.
Notable growth was recorded in several sectors, including information and communication (27.6%), transportation (16.1%), fishing and aquaculture (8.7%), electricity (8.2%), and manufacturing (7.3%).
By contrast, accommodation and food services (-3.3%) and extraction and refining (-0.2%) both contracted.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the economy advanced 1.4%, following an upwardly revised 2.1% expansion in the fourth quarter.
Last year, the GDP grew 3.1%, after a 5.0% expansion in 2024.
