Uruguay Jobless Rate Rises to 4-Month High

Uruguay’s unemployment rate rose to 7.3% in October 2025, from 6.9% in September and marking a four-month high.
Joblessness was higher in Montevideo (7.9%) than in the rest of the country (6.9%).
The rate among men stood at 6.1%, compared with 8.6% for women.
Youth unemployment remained elevated at 25.1% for those aged 14–24, while it was lowest among workers aged 55–64 (2.7%).
Among the employed, 9.5% were underemployed and 21.5% were not registered with social security in their main job.
The national activity rate was 64.7%, and the employment rate 60.0%.
