Domestic car sales in Thailand rose by 5.84% yoy to 49,102 units in July 2025, slightly up from a 5.07% increase in June, according to the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).
This marked the fourth consecutive month of growth, largely driven by a sharp increase in electric vehicle (EV) sales.
Between January and July, EV sales surged by 35.1% from a year earlier.
However, Surapong Paisitpattanapong, spokesperson for FTI’s automotive industry division, noted that tighter lending conditions continued to weigh on pickup truck sales, particularly amid a sluggish domestic economy.
He added that there is a strong likelihood that total car sales will reach 600,000 units by year-end.
In contrast, car production fell by 11.39% year-on-year to 110,616 units in July, reversing the 11.98% growth recorded in June.
This marked the first decline in three months, with tariff uncertainties dampening export demand.
Consequently, vehicle exports fell by 13.27% yoy.
