Meanwhile, output fell for both water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (-4.9 percent from -22.7 percent), and electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply (-1.8 percent from 18 percent).

Producer prices in Palestine increased 4 percent year-on-year in September of 2018, following a 2.6 percent rise in the previous month. It was the highest producer inflation since January, when prices fell by 0.2 percent. On a monthly basis, producer prices went up 0.1 percent, recovering from a 1.1 percent drop in August, as cost rebounded for both manufacturing (0.05 percent from -0.10 percent) and electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply (1.10 percent from -3.21 percent). Meanwhile, prices remained flat for mining & quarrying (the same as in July) and cost declined at a softer pace for agriculture, forestry & fishing (-0.36 percent from -1.99 percent) and water supply, sewerage, waste management & remediation (-0.02 percent from -4.58 percent).

The Palestine economy contracted 1.3 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2018, reversing from a 2 percent expansion in the previous period. It was the first contraction in economy since the first quarter 2015, as government spending declined (-8.1 percent from 7.7 percent in Q1). On the other hand, fixed investment increased faster (3 percent from 2.3 percent) while private consumption rebounded (1.2 percent from -4.2 percent in Q1). Meanwhile, net exports contributed positively to growth (4.9 percent from -4.6 percent in Q1). On a quarterly basis, the GDP contracted 0.8 percent, following a 2.8 percent fall in the first quarter.
