The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) raised its key repo rate by 25 bps to 4.50% in September 2026, mirroring the Federal Reserve’s decision.
The move followed the Fed’s announcement that it would raise the target range for the federal funds rate by 25 bps to 3.75%-4%, while a majority of FOMC members projected another hike this year.
In a statement, the CBO said the decision is in line with its monetary policy framework and consistent with the Omani rial’s fixed exchange rate regime, supporting monetary and financial stability.
The bank also noted that the measure is expected to help contain inflationary pressures and maintain price stability, mitigate undesirable cross-border capital flows, and support investor confidence by limiting risks associated with exchange-rate volatility.
