Namibia Inflation Rate at 4.00 percent  
Inflation rate in Namibia increased further to 4% in June of 2018 from 3.8% in the previous month. It was the highest inflation rate since December of 2017. Prices advanced faster for transport (7.2% from 5.6% in May); furniture & household equipment (1.1% from 1%) and recreation & culture (2.5% from 2.4%). On the other hand, cost slowed for housing & utilities (3.2% from 3.3%); food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.8% from 3.9%); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (5.1% from 5.4%); health (5.4% from 5.7%) and hotels, café & restaurants (2% from 3.3%). Meanwhile, inflation was steady for miscellaneous goods & services (4.1%, the same as in May) and education (9.9%). Also, prices rebounded for communication (0.3% from -0.1%) and cost fell at a softer pace for clothing & footwear (-5.8% from -5.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.2%, following a 0.4% gain in May.

Namibia GDP Annual Growth Rate at -0.10 percent  
The Namibian economy shrank 1.0 percent year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2017, the same pace as in the previous period. Output dropped for manufacturing (-12.0 percent from 6.7 percent in Q3); fisheries (-7.8 percent from 6.8 percent); health (-6.3 percent from 0.7 percent) and transport (-0.8 percent from 0.4 percent). Additionally, utilities fell further (-5.3 percent from -1.6 percent) and growth slowed for real estate (1.9 percent from 2.4 percent); financial services (1.9 percent from 3.8 percent) and agriculture (3.8 percent from 9.5 percent). Meanwhile, output declined at softer pace for construction (-4.0 percent from -23.8 percent); wholesale and retail trade (-2.7 percent from -6.9 percent) and hotels and restaurants (-0.4 percent from -1.1 percent). Considering full 2017, the economy contracted 0.8 percent, after expanding 0.7 percent in 2016. On a quarterly basis, the economy contracted 0.3 percent in the first three months of 2018.
