Kosovo Inflation Rate Accelerates in August

The annual inflation rate in Kosovo climbed to 7.3% in August 2026 from 6.5% in the prior month.

Inflation accelerated sharply for transport, surging 21.1% after a 17.8% rise in July, while also accelerating for housing and utilities (11.8% vs 11.1%).

Additional upward pressure was due to higier price growth in alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (5.1% vs 5.3%), restaurants and hotels (5.4% vs 5.3%), clothing and footwear (3% vs 2.8%), recreation, sports and culture (3.4% vs 2.3%), furnishings (3.4% vs 2.5%) and health (4.2% vs 4%).

In contrast, food inflation slowed for the sixth consecutive month, easing to 2.6% from 2.7%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.3%, the highest pace of increase in five months, up from 0.6% in July.

Kosovo's annual inflation rate rose to 6.5% in July 2026 from 6% in June. Upward price pressures were mainly due to accelerating growth in transport costs, surging 17.8% from 13.7% in the pior month, while inflation also increased for alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (5.3% vs 5.1%), restaurants and hotels (5.3% vs 4.5%), clothing and footwear (2.8% vs 2.3%) and recreation, sports and culture (2.3% vs 2%). Meanwhile, inflation stood at 11.1% for housing and utilities. In contrast, inflation slowed for food (2.7% vs 3.9%), furnishings (2.5% vs 3%) and health (4% vs 4.1%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.6%, rebounding from a 0.1% decline in the prior month.

Kosovo Inflation Slows in June
Kosovo's inflation rate eased to 6% year-on-year in June 2026, the lowest level since before the conflict in the Middle East, down from 6.8% in May. Price pressures eased across most sectors, slowing for transport (13.7% vs 14.1%), housing and utilities (11.1% vs 13.2%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.1% vs 5.6%), restaurants and hotels (4.5% vs 5.3%), food (3.9% vs 5.1%), clothing and footwear (2.3% vs 2.4%) and recreation and culture (2% vs 2.7%). Meanwhile, price growth for health and furnishings remained unchanged at 4.1% and 3%, respectively. On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged down 0.1% in June, following a 0.4% decline in the previous month.
