Iran Inflation Rate Slows to 4-Month Low in September

The annual (point-to-point) inflation rate in Iran eased to 31.2% in September (Shahrivar) of 2024 from 31.6% in the preceding month.

It marked the lowest reading since May (Ordibehesht) as prices of food and non alcoholic beverages (% vs 24.4% in August) rose at the slowest pace in four months.

Other contributors the increase were housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (41.5% vs 42.1%); transport (28.9% vs 28.4%); health (27.8% vs 28.2%); clothing and footwear (41.5% vs 32.1%), and furnishings, and household equipment (24.6% vs 23.9%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up by 1.7%, following a 2.2% increase in the previous month.
