Iran Inflation Rate Rises to 3-Month High in June

The annual (point-to-point) inflation rate in Iran picked up to 31.9% in June (Khordad) of 2024 from 31% in the preceding month.

It pointed to the highest reading since March (Esfand) mostly due to the rise in cost of food and non alcoholic beverages (25.8% vs 22.7% in May) which continued to rise for the fourth month.

Other contributors the increase were housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (41.2% vs 41.8%); transport (21.7% vs 26%); health (33.2% vs 30.3%); clothing and footwear (34.1% vs 35.5%), and furnishings, and household equipment (25.5% vs 27%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up by 2.7%, the same pace as in the previous month.
