Fiji Inflation Eases From 15-Year High

Fiji’s annual inflation slowed to 6.8% in September 2026 from 7.6% in the previous month, which was the highest since December 2011.
The moderation came as food inflation eased to 7.6% from a 28-month high of 9.5% in August, while housing inflation eased to a four-month low of 4.9% from 7.0% in August.
Inflation also moderated for miscellaneous goods and services (3.1% vs 3.6%) and furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (0.1% vs 0.4%), while remaining flat for clothing and footwear (0.0% vs. 1.2%).
Meanwhile, inflation accelerated for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (13.9% vs 13.3%) and transport (12.2% vs 11.7%), while education inflation was steady at 0.4%.
Additionally, recreation and culture prices fell at a faster pace (-1.5% vs -1.4%).
On a monthly basis, the CPI fell 0.4% in September, following a 0.1% decline in August and marking the third straight monthly decline.
