Costa Rica Inflation Rises the Most in 3 Years

The annual inflation rate in Costa Rica rose by 1.24% in February 2025, following a 1.14% increase in the previous month, marking the fifth increase in the last twenty months and the fastest in the series.
Prices accelerated primarily for food and beverages (6.76% vs. 6.06% in February).
Conversely, prices slowed for education (3.18 vs. 3.73%), restaurants and hotels (2.02% vs. 3.09%) health (1.45% vs. 1.61%), and housing and utilities (1.02% vs. 1.20%), while the pace of decline accelerated for transport (-3.11% vs. -2.75%) and communications (-3.59% vs. -2.46%).
On a monthly basis however, consumer prices marginally fell by 0.01%, following a 0.36% increase in the prior month.
