Cape Verde Inflation Rate Falls to Over 1-Year Low

The annual inflation rate in Cape Verde cooled down to 1.4% in January, the lowest since December 2024, from 3.3% in the prior month.
Price growth moderated mostly for food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.7% vs 5.8% in December); restaurants & hotels (9% vs 9.9%) and clothing and footwear (6.9% vs 10.5%).
Moreover, housing and utilities (-4.5% vs 0%) and transportation (-1.5% vs -0.7%) costs fell.
On the other hand, prices picked up for furnishing & household equipment (8.4% vs 4.6%).
On a monthly basis, the CPI decreased by 1.7%, after a 1% rise in the previous month.
