The annual inflation rate in Cape Verde eased to 1.8% in June 2025, down from 2.3% in the previous month.
It was the softest rate since last December, driven primarily by a slowdown in food prices, which saw their smallest increase in six months (0.5% vs 1.4% in May), and a decline in transport costs (-1.0% vs 0.8%).
Inflation also moderated for clothing and footwear (7.0% vs 9.0%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.4% vs 5.6%), leisure, recreation & culture (2.0% vs 2.4%), and miscellaneous goods and services (6.8% vs 7.2%).
Meanwhile, inflation accelerated for housing (0.4% vs 0.2%), hotels, cafes, and restaurants (8.2% vs 6.2%), and household equipment and current home maintenance (4.1% vs 3.8%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.2% in June, after remaining flat in the previous month.
