Botswana Inflation Rate Edges Up to 1.4%

The annual inflation rate in Botswana rose to 1.4% in August 2025 from a near five-year low of 1.1% in the prior month.
The main upward pressure came from prices of miscellaneous goods & services (7.9% vs 7.5% in July),of which insurance (13.4% vs 12.9%) and personal care (5.8% vs 4.8%); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (6.5% vs 6.4%) and food & non-alcoholic beverages (5% vs 4.3%), notably fruits (14.8% vs 9.8%).
On the other hand, prices declined for housing & utilities (-3.7% vs -4.2%) and transportation (-1.6% vs -1.9%).
On a monthly basis, the CPI increased by 0.5% in August, after falling by 0.7% previously.
