Angola Inflation Rate Slows Further to Near 3-Year Low

Angola’s annual inflation rate fell to 11.58% in April 2026 from 12.42% in the prior month, marking the lowest since June 2023 and continuing the downward trend observed since mid-2024.

The exchange rate has remained broadly stable, helping to contain inflationary pressures.

Price-growth moderated for several CPI categories, including food & non-alcoholic beverages (11.96% vs 12.72% in March); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (9.63% vs 11.03%); clothing & footwear (8.47% vs 10.14%); housing & utilities (15.17% vs 15.49%); transportation (16.45% vs 16.59%); hotels & restaurants (6.62% vs 8.14%), among others.

On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 0.58% in April, after a 0.55% increase in the previous month.

Angola Sustains Disinflation Trend
Angola’s annual inflation rate eased to 12.42% in March 2026, the lowest since July 2023, down from 13.35% in the prior month, maintaining the downward trend observed since August 2024. There were milder price pressures across the CPI categories, namely food & non-alcoholic beverages (12.72% vs 13.55% in February), alcoholic beverages & tobacco (11.03% vs 12.27%), clothing & footwear (10.14% vs 11.61%), housing & utilities (15.49% vs 16.06%), health (13.40% vs 14.24%), transportation (16.59% vs 18.66%), among others. The few exceptions included education (13.40% vs 13.40%) and communications (6.92% vs 6.48%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.55%, after a 0.52% increase in the previous month.

Angola’s annual inflation rate fell further to 13.35% in February 2026, the lowest since July 2023, from 14.56% January, helped by the ongoing stability of the kwanza. Price-growth moderated across several categories, primarily food & non-alcoholic beverages (13.55% vs 14.89% in January); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (12.27% vs 13.67%); clothing & footwear (11.61% vs 13%); health (14.24% vs 15.92%) and transportation (18.66% vs 19.07%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.52%, after a 0.68% increase in the previous month.
