Angola Inflation Rate Keeps Falling

Angola’s annual inflation rate eased further to 15.70% in December 2025, the lowest since September 2023, from November's 16.56%, continuing the pattern observed since August 2024.

The stability of the kwanza has been crucial.

Prices slowed down for most categories, primarily food & non-alcoholic beverages (16.15% vs 16.87% in November); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (15.13% vs 16.33%); clothing & footwear (14.34% vs 15.69%); housing & utilities (17.01% vs 17.23%); furnishings & household equipment (14.30% vs 15.41%), among others.

On a monthly basis, the CPI inched up by 0.95% in December, after a 0.85% increase in the prior month.

Angola Inflation Rate Slows Further to Below 17%
Angola’s annual inflation rate eased further, falling to 16.56% in November 2025, the lowest since September 2023, continuing the gradual decline seen since August 2024, helped by a stable kwanza. There were milder price pressures across the CPI categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (16.87% vs 17.76% in October); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (16.33% vs 17.93%); clothing & footwear (15.69% vs 16.97%); transportation (19.80% vs 20.39%); health (18.97% vs 20.86%); miscellaneous goods & services (17.83% vs 19.06%), among others. On the other hand, prices rose faster for housing & utilities (17.23% vs 16.52%) and communications (4.60% vs 3.98%). On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 0.85%, after a 0.93% increase in the prior month.

Angola Inflation Rate Hits 2-Year Low of 17.4%
The annual inflation rate in Angola fell further to 17.43% in October 2025, a new low since October 2023, extending a downward trend underway since August 2024. This is mainly attributed to the ongoing stability of the kwanza. Prices slowed down for most categories, including food & non-alcoholic beverages (17.76% vs 18.48% in September); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (17.93% vs 19.22%); clothing & footwear (16.97% vs 18.43%); furnishings & household equipment (16.30% vs 17.32%); health (20.86% vs 22.11%); transportation (20.39% vs 21.39%); recreation & culture (13.45% vs 14.03%) and hotels, cafes and restaurants (16.29% vs 18.12%). On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 0.93%, after a 1.08% increase in the prior month.
