Angola Inflation Rate Keeps Falling

Angola’s annual inflation rate eased further to 15.70% in December 2025, the lowest since September 2023, from November's 16.56%, continuing the pattern observed since August 2024.

The stability of the kwanza has been crucial.

Prices slowed down for most categories, primarily food & non-alcoholic beverages (16.15% vs 16.87% in November); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (15.13% vs 16.33%); clothing & footwear (14.34% vs 15.69%); housing & utilities (17.01% vs 17.23%); furnishings & household equipment (14.30% vs 15.41%), among others.

On a monthly basis, the CPI inched up by 0.95% in December, after a 0.85% increase in the prior month.

Angola’s annual inflation rate fell further to 13.35% in February 2026, the lowest since July 2023, from 14.56% January, helped by the ongoing stability of the kwanza. Price-growth moderated across several categories, primarily food & non-alcoholic beverages (13.55% vs 14.89% in January); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (12.27% vs 13.67%); clothing & footwear (11.61% vs 13%); health (14.24% vs 15.92%) and transportation (18.66% vs 19.07%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.52%, after a 0.68% increase in the previous month.

Angola’s annual inflation rate eased further to 14.56% in January 2026 from 15.70% in December, marking the softest increase since August 2023 and continuing the moderation trend observed since August 2024. The stability of the kwanza has been a crucial factor. Inflation slowdowns were seen across most categories, led by food and non-alcoholic beverages (14.89% vs 16.15% in December 2025), marking the slowest pace since August 2023; clothing and footwear (13.00% vs 14.34%), housing and utilities (16.60% vs 17.01%), and furnishings and household equipment (13.18% vs 14.30%). On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 0.68% in January, easing from a 0.95% gain in the previous month and marking the softest monthly increase since March 2015.
