Uruguay Jobless Rate Edges Lower in September

Uruguay’s unemployment rate edged down to 6.9% in September 2025, from 7.0% in August.
Joblessness was slightly higher in Montevideo (7.1%) than in the rest of the country (6.8%).
The rate among men stood at 5.8%, compared with 8.2% for women.
Youth unemployment remained elevated at 23.6% for those aged 14–24, while it was lowest among workers aged 55–64 (2.5%).
Among the employed, 9.9% were underemployed and 21.4% were not registered with social security in their main job.
The national activity rate was 64.3%, and the employment rate 59.9%.
