Uruguay Inflation Surges to Near 2-Year High in March

The annual inflation rate in Uruguay slightly increased to 5.67% in March 2025, up from 5.10% in the previous month, marking the highest level since June 2023.
Price increases accelerated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (6.32% vs. 3.86% in February), while the deflation in clothing and footwear prices eased (-1.35% vs. -1.88%).
Meanwhile, the growth in costs slowed for transportation (6.46% vs. 7.07%), restaurant and food services (6.98% vs. 7.51%), and housing and utilities (4.11% vs. 4.43%).
Month-over-month, consumer prices rose by 0.57%, slowing from the 0.69% increase seen in the previous month.
