Senegal GDP Grows 3.40 Percent in Q3

The Senegal GDP expanded by 3.4% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2022, accelerating from a 2.9% increase in Q2.
On the production side, accommodation and services (13.6%), oil refining and cooking (8.7%), and gas and electricity (8.7%) made the biggest upward contribution, while fishing (-16.5%) became one of the biggest drags linked to the drop in landings from artisanal fishing (-20%) and industrial (-11.5%).
The extractive activities also underperformed compared to the same quarter of the previous year, falling by 15.8%.
On the expenditure side, overall final consumption rose yearly by 5.0% due to a spike in household consumption (+5.3%) and general government consumption by 5.3%.
Exports and imports were up by 22.7% and 8.6%, respectively.
Compared to the previous quarter, the economy expanded by 0.9%.
