Oman Inflation Picks Up to 2% in February

The annual inflation rate in Oman rose to 2% in February 2026 from a four-month low of 1.4% in the previous month.

Faster price increases were observed in food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.8% vs 0.9% in January), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (3% vs 2.6%), and miscellaneous goods and services (13.4% vs 13.2%).

Transport costs also rebounded (0.2% vs -0.3%).

Meanwhile, prices for housing and utilities remained unchanged, as did those for communication, while inflation for restaurants and hotels eased (5.7% vs 5.9%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.2%, following a 0.3% rise in January.

Oman's annual inflation rate edged down to 1.4% in January 2026 from 1.6% in December. It marked the lowest reading since September 2025, as prices moderated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.9% vs 1.1% in December) and clothing and footwear (0.1% vs 0.2%). Moreover, prices slipped for transport (-0.3% vs 2.8%) and remained unchanged for housing and utilities (0%), communication (0%), and education (2.2%). On the other hand, costs increased at a faster pace for furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (2.6% vs 2.4%), miscellaneous goods and services (13.2% vs 10%), restaurants and hotels (5.9% vs 2.6%), and health (1.7% vs 0.1%), while it rebounded for recreation and culture (1.1% vs -0.1%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.3%, recovering from a 0.1% fall in December 2025.

Oman Inflation Rate Eased in December
Oman's annual inflation rate eased to 1.6% in December 2025, down from 1.7% in November. The decline was mainly driven by slower price increases in transports (2.8% versus 4.4%) and restaurants and hotels (2.6% versus 2.7%). In contrast, prices continued to rise in foods and non-alcoholic beverages (1.1% versus 0.9%) and miscellaneous goods and services (10.1% versus 9%). Inflation remained unchanged for housing utilities (0%), furnishings (2.4%), clothing and footwear (0.2%), communication (0%), education (2.2%), health (0.1%), recreation and culture (-0.1%) and tobacco (0%). On a monthly basis, prices declined by 0.1%.
