Mozambique Inflation Rate Accelerates to Near 2-Year High

The annual inflation rate in Mozambique quickened to 4.79% in August 2025, the steepest since November 2023, from 3.96% in the prior month.
The main upward pressure came from prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (11.91% vs 8.99% in July); restaurants, hotels & cafes (9.01% vs 8.91%); health (5.54% vs 5.14%); furnishings & household equipment (4.19% vs 4.01%) and clothing & footwear (2.53% vs 2.25%).
On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 0.68% in August, marking the strongest increase since January, after a 0.22% fall in the prior month.
