Fiji Inflation Rate Rises from 4-Month Low

The annual inflation rate in Fiji accelerated to 4.6% in February 2024 from January's four-month low of 3.6%, with food pricing picking up strongly following the softest rise for 11 months in the prior month (6.8% vs 3.4% in January) and housing prices rising the most in three months (3.7% vs 2.9%).

Upward price pressure also came from transport (4.8% vs 4.5%), recreation & culture (1.5% vs 3.4%), furnishings, household equipment & routine maintenance (2.2% vs 2.2%), and miscellaneous goods & services (5.0% vs 6.4%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 1.3% in February, the first rise in three months after a 0.6% fall in January.
