EU Car Sales Rise 10% in September

Passenger car registrations in the European Union rose 10.0% year-on-year to 888,672 units in September 2025, following a 5.3% increase in August.
This marked the third consecutive month of growth, driven mainly by the launch of new models.
All four of the EU’s largest markets recorded gains: Spain (16.4%), Germany (12.8%), Italy (4.2%), and France (1.0%).
In the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment, registrations increased by 20.0%, driven particularly by surges in Spain (59.7%) and Germany (31.9%).
Growth was also recorded in France (11.2%), while registrations in the Netherlands fell by 3.3%.
Year to date, total EU car registrations have risen 0.9%.
Meanwhile, BEV sales climbed 13.1% to 1.3 million units, accounting for 16.1% of the EU market.
