East Timor Inflation Rate at Over 1-Year High

The annual inflation rate in East Timor edged up to 0.9% in September 2025 from 0.6% in the previous month.
It marked the highest reading since August 2024, as prices increased at a faster pace for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2% vs 1.6% in August) and housing (1.3% vs 0.4%).
In addition, deflation softened for transport (-0.8% vs -1%) and communication (-0.2% vs -1.1%), while prices remained stable for health (0%), recreation and culture (0.4%), and education (0.4%).
On the other hand, costs moderated for furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (0.8% vs 1%), while deflation deepened for alcohol and tobacco (-3.5% vs -3.3%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices ticked lower to 0.1% from 0.2% in August 2025.
