Cape Verde's economy saw a strong expansion of 10.2% year-on-year in Q1 2024, after a 6.6% rise in the previous three-month period.
This marked the fastest growth rate since Q4 2022, driven primarily by the tourism sector and associated services such as transportation & storage, which grew by 26.5% and 33.8%, respectively.
Commerce and repair (+7.8%), along with agriculture, livestock, and forestry (+18.2%), also recorded strong increases.
On the expenditure side, both private consumption (+13.1%) and exports (+13.5%) contributed the most to the robust economic performance.
On the other hand, fixed investment continued to plunge (-40.8% vs -33.2% in Q1).
