The National Bank of Angola held its key interest rate at 19.5% in its July 2025 meeting, marking fourteen consecutive months of borrowing costs at the highest level since December 2022.
Still, the central bank maintained the interest rate of the Permanent Liquidity Provision Facility at 20.5% and the Permanent Liquidity Absorption Facility at 17.5%, while reducing the reserve requirement ratio in national currency by 100 bps to 18%.
The measures aimed to increase liquidity in the Angolan financial system for growth to remain above the target of 3%, with 2024 GDP expected to have grown at 4.4%, outpacing the oil sector’s 3.61% expansion.
Annual inflation slowed to 19.73% in June 2025 from 20.74% in May.
