The headline rate of input prices in the United Kingdom rose to 13.0 percent year-on-year in October 2021, accelerating from an upwardly revised 11.9 percent in the previous month and compared with market expectations of 12.1 percent. Crude oil displayed the largest upward contribution to the change in the rate, at 0.87 percentage points, with annual price growth of 88.0 percent, underpinned by low base year effects. This is the second time the annual rate has picked up for this product group since April 2021.
