In Turkey, economic confidence index is a composite index that encapsulates consumers’ and producers’ evaluations, expectations and tendencies about general economic situation. The index is combined by means of a weighted aggregation of normalized sub-indices of consumer confidence, seasonally adjusted real sector (manufacturing industry), services, retail trade and construction confidence indices. The economic confidence index indicates an optimistic outlook about the general economic situation when the index is above 100, on contrary it indicates a pessimistic outlook when it is below 100.

Turkish Economic Sentiment Improves to Start 2022
The economic confidence index in Turkey jumped to 100.8 in January of 2022 from 98.2 in December, pointing to the strongest reading in 3 months. Sentiment improved among consumers (73.2 vs 68.9), real estate sector (111.9 vs 110.1), services (120.2) and constructors (85.5 vs 90).
Turkish Economic Morale Weakest in 7 Months
The economic confidence index in Turkey fell by 1.8 percent to 97.6 in December of 2021 from 99.3 a month earlier. This was the lowest reading since May, as sentiment deteriorated among consumers (68.9 vs 71.1 in November), manufacturers (110.1 vs 112.0), service providers (118.8 vs 119.4), retailers (121.5 vs 121.9), and constructors (90.0 vs 93.9).
Turkish Economic Sentiment Lowest in 5 Months
The economic confidence index in Turkey dropped by 2 percent to 99.3 in November of 2021 from 101.4 a month earlier. This was the lowest reading since June, as sentiment deteriorated mainly among consumers (71.1 vs 76.8 in October), manufacturers (112.0 vs 111.3), and service providers (119.4 vs 120.3), while improved further for both retailers (121.9 vs 121.1) and constructors (93.6 vs 92.7).
