Tunisia October Inflation Rate Edges Up to 6.3%
The annual inflation rate in Tunisia slightly increased to 6.3 percent in October of 2021, after being unchanged in the previous two months at 6.2%. That was the highest rate since July, mainly due to the acceleration in prices of clothing & footwear (8.6 percent vs 7.8 percent in September); education products & services (7.8 percent vs 6.1 percent): and transport (4.9 percent vs 4.3 percent). On the other hand, inflation eased somewhat for food (7 percent vs 7.2 percent); housing & utilities (5 percent vs 5.1 percent); restaurants & hotels (6.5 percent vs 6.9 percent); and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (18.6 percent vs 19.1 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.9 percent, following a 0.6 percent rise in September.

The annual inflation rate in Tunisia stabilized at 6.2 percent in September of 2021, unchanged from the previous month, which was the second-highest since October of 2019. Prices slowed a bit for food & non-alcoholic beverages (7.2 percent vs 7.4 percent in August); but advanced faster for clothing & footwear (7.8 percent vs 7.5 percent); recreation & culture (5 percent vs 4.1 percent); education (6.1 percent vs 5.9 percent) and communications (1.5 percent vs 1.3 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices were up 0.6 percent, after being flat in the previous month.
Tunisia Inflation Rate Slows to 6.2% in August
The annual inflation rate in Tunisia edged down to 6.2 percent in August of 2021, from 6.4 percent in the previous month, which was at a 1-½-year high. Prices slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (7.4 percent vs 8.0 percent in July); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (19.1 percent vs 26.1 percent); health (6.5 percent vs 7.3 percent); and furnishings (3.8 percent vs 4.0 percent). At the same time, inflation was steady for housing & utilities (at 5.1 percent); recreation & culture (at 4.1 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (at 4.7 percent). Conversely, prices advanced faster for transport (4.3 percent vs 3.8 percent) and clothing & footwear (7.5 percent vs 7.1 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices were flat, after increasing 0.9 percent in July.
