Car sales in Thailand grew 15.71 percent from a year earlier to 64,735 units in May of 2022, after a 9.1 percent growth in the previous month, the fifth straight month of increase, amid further easing Covid-19 restrictions and government stimulus measures. In 2022, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) forecast domestic sales of 800,000 to 850,000 units or a rise of 5.4 percent to 12 percent, boosted by loosening of travel curbs and economic recovery, after declining by 4 percent to 759,199 units in 2021. On a monthly basis, the car sales rose by 2.1 percent.

Thailand Car Sales Rise 9.1% YoY in April
Car sales in Thailand grew by 9.1 percent from a year earlier to 63,427 units in April of 2022, the same pace as in the previous month. The latest reading also marked the fourth straight month of increase in car sales, as COVID-19 situations improved further. Considering the first four months of the year, the car sales rose 16.8 percent from a year ago to 294,616 units. For 2022, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) forecast domestic sales of 800,000 to 850,000 units or a rise of 5.4 percent to 12 percent, boosted by loosening of travel curbs and an acceleration in economic recovery. That compared with a 4.0 percent fall to 759,199 units in 2021. On a monthly basis, the sales plunged 27.3 percent.
