Industrial production in Spain was slightly higher at 0.1 percent year-on-year in March of 2022, following a downwardly revised 2.8 percent jump in the previous month and well below market expectations of a 2.4 percent increase. Production decelerated for consumer goods (2.8 percent vs 6.2 percent in February) and energy (2.3 percent vs 2.6 percent), which offset declines in intermediate gods (-4.5 percent vs 4.5 percent) and capital goods (-1.2 percent v 2.2 percent). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output was 1.8 percent lower.

Spain Industrial Output Growth Beats Expectations
Industrial production in Spain surged 3 percent year-on-year in February of 2022, following an upwardly revised 2 percent rise in the previous month and above market expectations of a 1.7 percent gain. Production of consumer goods soared 6 percent, intermediate goods 4.5 percent, energy 2.6 percent and equipment goods 1.8 percent. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output went up 0.9 percent, the first increase in three months.
