In Spain, the Industrial Confidence Indicator (ICI) measures the level of optimism of entrepreneurs for the future development of industrial activity. The ICI is conducted based on the sample of 2500 enterprises representing different sizes, regions and sectors of Spanish economy. The response rate is around 60 percent. ICI is measured on a scale of -100 (extreme lack of confidence) to +100 (extreme confidence).

Spain Industrial Morale Remains at 21-Year High
Spain’s industrial confidence indicator remained unchanged from the previous month at 4.4 in November of 2021, the highest reading since September of 2000. Confidence in industry was driven by an improvement in new orders (7.5 vs 3.1 in October), while stock levels rose to a lesser extent (5.5 vs 4.9). On the other hand, less optimism was seen in production expectations (11 vs 14.9).

Spain's industrial confidence indicator rose to 4.4 in October of 2021 from an upwardly revised 2.2 in the previous month. It was the highest reading since September of 2000, amid a marked improvement in production expectations (15 vs 8.4 in September). At the same time, increases were seen in new orders (3.1 vs 1.2) and stocks (4.9 vs 3).
