Slovakia Current Account Swings to Deficit in August
Slovakia posted a current account deficit of EUR 527 million in August of 2021, the highest gap since April 2020 and compared to EUR 193 million surplus in the corresponding month of the previous year. The goods account slipped to a EUR 374 million deficit from a EUR 213 million surplus a year ago and the services account surplus shrank to EUR 66 million from EUR 167 million. Meanwhile, the primary account swung to EUR 133 million surplus from EUR 86 million deficit and the secondary income deficit narrowed to EUR 58 million from EUR 99 million.
Slovak Current Account Balance Swings to Deficit in July
Slovakia posted a current deficit of EUR 292.2 million in July of 2021, compared to a EUR 154.3 million surplus in the corresponding month of the previous year. The goods account slipped to a EUR 162.3 million deficit from a EUR 226.7 million surplus in the previous year while the service surplus shrank to EUR 67.7 million from EUR 157.1 million. At the same time, the primary income deficit narrowed to EUR 153.2 million from EUR 170.7 million and the secondary income gap fell less to EUR 44.4 million from EUR 58.8 million.
