Singapore Current Account Surplus Hits Record High
Singapore's current account surplus jumped to a record high of SGD 28.86 billion in the first quarter of 2022 from SGD 17.65 billion in the same period of 2021, with the goods account surplus surging to SGD 40.04 billion from SGD 32.75 billion in the prior year while the services account surplus edged up to SGD 2.85 billion from SGD 2.36 billion. Meantime, the deficit of primary income dropped to SGD 13.10 billion from SGD 16.35 billion in the prior year and that of the secondary income declined to SGD 0.94 billion from SGD 1.12 billion.

Singapore Current Account Surplus Widens in Q4
Singapore's current account surplus rose to SGD 25.72 billion in the fourth quarter of 2021 from SGD 17.57 billion in the same period of 2020, with the goods account surplus increasing to SGD 43.08 billion from SGD 36.17 billion in the prior year. Meantime, the deficit of primary income decreased to SGD 16.15 billion from SGD 18.86 billion and that of the secondary income declined to SGD 1.50 billion from SGD 1.94 billion. On the other hand, the services account surplus narrowed sharply to SGD 0.29 billion from SGD 2.20 billion a year earlier.
