Seychelles Inflation Rate Steady at 2.2%
The annual inflation rate in Seychelles was little changed at 2.20% in April of 2022, the lowest level since October 2020. Prices of non-food products advanced 2.6%, the same pace as in the previous month. Also, costs of food, excluding fish decreased further (-0.8% vs -0.3%). By contrast, inflation picked up for fresh fish (8.9% vs 0.6%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices were up 0.36%, after increasing by just 0.09% in the previous month.

Seychelles Inflation Rate at Near 1-1/2-Year Low
The annual inflation rate in Seychelles eased to 2.2 percent in March of 2022 from 3 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation rate since October of 2020, amid a slowdown in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.2 percent vs 1 percent in February) and non-food items (2.6 percent vs 3.4 percent), particularly housing and utilities (6.1 percent vs 6.5 percent); health (2.1 percent vs 4.2 percent) and transport (6.9 percent vs 7.1 percent). The core inflation index, which excludes fresh fish and energy items (fuel prices and electricity), increased by 1.49 percent over the same period. On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched up 0.09 percent, slowing from a 0.23 percent rise in February.
